It would seem that convent life tends to operate in some kind of mysterious (and at times bewildering) space-time continuum.  All through Advent, one could frequently here throughout the community, "I can't believe it's already the third week of Advent!!, or "Christmas already?! - It's come so quickly!"  While it's true that Christmas is always on the 25th of December, this year it seemed to come upon us bizarrely fast... maybe beacuse the 4th Week of Advent was so incredibly short....?

Well, once Christmas arrived we immediately entered into the full swing of the season!

Starting with the Geneaology...

After Christmas Eve Mass we turn on the Christmas tree lights in the priory and invite all Mass attendees into the priory for homemade cookies and mulled wine to celebrate - very nice!  And the following day we celebrate with a fantastic full-English Christmas roast for dinner with a few special guests.  That evening, exhuasted with the morning's cooking and post-dinner cleaning, we opened gifts given to the community and went back into the chapel for Adoration and Compline filled with gratitude.

During the Christmas Octave, we tend have a bit of a "break" for from our normal duties - apostolate and work in and out of the convent - and are able to spend more time together as a community.  (This often includes playing games and watching convent-friendly films together.  Fiddler on the Roof, anyone?)  And as we had a visiting priest with us for a good part of the Octave, we were able introduce him to Salisbury cathedral and the Isle of Wight - ah! And a new favourite game of the community: SPOONS! (If you have no idea what this is, click HERE and give it a go! So. Much. FUN!)

Once the New Year arrived, we've been gradually getting back into our apostolates outside of the priory and are looking forward to all that 2018 will bring us!  (So far, we've all had some pretty bad colds -- we share all things in common, yes?  Yes, we do!)  We offer all to Jesus, for love of Him and for the salvation of souls!

And we give thanks to God for all the many blessings bestwoed upon our community this past year!
